Sorry I’m a new member and I know there are a lot of questions re this topic but I just need to be clear on this specific situation.
I have a voluntary arrangement with my sons mother. My son was 17 in April and finishes college in June 2023. He then starts an apprenticeship which is full time employment with no days for college. It’s a city and guilds equivalent. I was intending maintaining the payments to the end of the academic year then stopping. Can I do that or am I legally obliged to pay for another year or two? Whilst I believe apprentices earn £3.50 ph he is getting £7.50 ph
tia for any answers and sorry to be a pain
Hi, maintenance payments are made until child leaves full-time education. (Non advanced)
If he has left full time education then technically you can stop payments.
Info on laws about child maintenance:
@bill337 thank you
Sorry still struggling with the ambiguity of it all. So my son has now left college and has a full time job but it’s an apprenticeship , similar to city and guilds but no classroom. How can I find out if his mother is still receiving child benefit? she won’t tell me although her household income is likely to be in excess of the min anyway so she might not be entitled to it although she’s likely to be making a fraudulent claim anyway
