[Solved] Child maintanence service and redundancy

There is a possibility that I am going to made redundant soon, and I'll be getting a pay out from the company. 2 questions.

- Will my child's mother be able to claim against this payment?

- I plan to take a couple of months off to get myself together. Will I have to pay maintanence while I am not working?

Hi There,
.
I'm not sure on how the redundancy money works, if you are out of work for a few months, In theory if you are able to then I would continue to pay the amount that you have been for the time you are off work, I would contact CMS or CSA if you are paying through them and inform them that you will be out of work but (if you decide to do so) you will contine to pay the same amount and then inform them when you get a new job.
.
When I was made redundant a few years ago they didn't even look at the amount of redundancy money, you have to remember that redundancy is tax free so in effect won't show up on your end of year tax, which if you are with CMS is what they work out what you pay on.

I agree - let them know you are unemployed as soon as it happens - it's up to you to continue to pay, but by letting them know, if the couple of months off turns out to be any longer for any reason, at least you have the option available to reduce the maintenance.
