Hi There,
My contract at work is being terminated end of next Month. I have not been at the company long enough to get any kind of redundancy payments. I have advised the CMS of this, but they have said I am still liable to pay the full amount even if I do not get a new job straight away and am out of work. I asked the guy how am I expected to pay when I potentially not have any money coming in, he could not answer it.
Help!!! What can I do?
Hello
It does seem rather daft the CMS should expect you to pay when you don't have the means to pay. You simply have to advise them of a change of circumstances and prove your income has fallen by 25 per cent or more.
I would contact CMS again and check this, and if they persist, then put in a complaint.
I'm pretty sure that if you register with the unemployment agency, your current payment schedule would stop until you were working again. You might have to pay a minimal amount of £7pw and I don't know what the situation would be if you have savings.
All the best
