Child left education but still paying CMS

I have paid for my child for the last 17 years (he will be 18 in March). Child has left full time education in October 2024 and is working but might go to university in September 2025. The CMS know he has left education but as ex wife somehow still gets child benefit they say I still have to pay. This is utter madness and a huge grey area in their policies. Any help much appreciated
