Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.
Reporting a concern
It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.
The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

Everyone, I'm new to the group and have a question.
I have a letter from college that my son left in October and this was sent to CM last year and they cut her payments off to her
He is now thinking of going back to college. he is over 18 years old, and the ex is pressuring him to do so.
Will I have to pay child Maintenance for him again as he is going back to college, but he is over 18.?
Unfortunately the ex is money mad and is trying everything to get more money out of me.
Any help to navigate the quagmire of CM rules would be appreciated
Many Thanks
Simon
hi, this short video explains it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXyPXUojjF0&t=1s
@bill337
Not really, if he has left and has to go back do I still have to pay CM, that's my question
@fester sorry. you could contact CMS to check with them.
I recommend this group for paying parents, lot of experienced members:
Hi Simon
I’m sure you must be happy that your son might get some more education. That’s the good news…
Bad news… if he’s accepted onto a course which would qualify for Child Benefit payments to be reinstated before his 19th birthday, then you would be liable for a CMS claim against you until such time as
1. Your son reaches 20th birthday, or
2. The end of the college course
(whichever happens first)
