Hi can someone help me with this problem I have pleaseeeeeee

my daughter who is now 16 has left school . I thought that she will be just claiming benefits and Not going onto further education but I have found out that she has started a PRE FOUNDATION COURSE at a college
the course details are as follows :-
Courses details for: O1143/1
Course: Access to Animal Care, Year 1 (NPTC)

Course Type: Full time
Course Level: Entry Level

What's it all about
You’ll develop skills in handling and taking care for a range of small and large animals.

The qualifications you will gain from this course include:

β€’ Entry Diploma in Animal Care (E3)

β€’ Entry Certificate in Employability and Personal Development (E3 )

β€’ Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT

In addition you will gain study skills and improve your self confidence which will help you to achieve your qualification and progress to Level 1, Spring Board, and access to employment or into employment.

can someone please advise me if this course would be classed as further education coz if it is then I will have to continue paying CSA 😑

Here's the list:

I would guess that it counts as pre-U in which case you still continue paying, but contact the college and ask them what level the course is, and how many hours per week.

Hello deband,

My name is William a Child Maintenance Options consultant. Child maintenance is payable when your daughter's mother is still in receipt of Child Benefit payments and your daughter is under 20 and in full-time non-advanced education. When your daughter leaves full-time education in the summer, Child Benefit generally continues until the first week of September.

When your child leaves approved education or training payments will stop at the end of February, 31 May, 31 August or 30 November, whichever comes first.

Approved education must be full-time, more than an average of 12 hours supervised study a week during term time, and can include:

β€’ A levels or similar - eg Pre-U, International Baccalaureate
β€’ Scottish Highers
β€’ NVQ up to level 3
β€’ home education - if started before your child turned 16

Courses are not approved if paid for by an employer or β€˜advanced’, eg a university degree, BTEC Higher National Certificate.

With your arrangement being through the Child Support Agency (CSA) then you would need to contact them directly to find out exactly when your payments may end.

As the moderator mentioned you may wish to contact the college your daughter is attending and find out the level of the course.

I hope you find this information useful.

William

ITS BAD NEWS πŸ™ ... just had it confirmed from my local mp who contacted the child benefit office themselves that if your kid has enrolled in a PRE FOUNDATION course at a college it don't seem to matter what the course is as long as its full time (more than 12hrs a week) you will have to continue to pay csa
my daughter is 17 in December my [censored] of an ex has enrolled my daughter in this pre foundation course for 2 years she has no qualifications from school and the course req no entry exam and there's no qualification at the end either but what really p@sses me off is the fact is ive never stopped paying over the last 16 years never missed a payment the csa keep imposing more payment charges saying there's arrears built up its been a real lead weight around my neck and thought it was coming to a end ....and now this I feel like ending it all. πŸ™
