[Solved] Changing from CSA to new scheme

I am NRP and my CSA payments I pay are going to new CMS scheme. I am paying via collect and pay but I want to do family based but ex is not happy and refuses! There are multiple reasons for wanting to do family based mainly so my child's needs are met by his mother!! She told me she has set up direct pay with them ( my case doesn't close for another few weeks) and they will tell me how much to pay.
I was under the impression that I cannot be forced to direct pay under the new scheme as I have never missed a payment of CSA!
Getting so many different answers I just want what's best for my child so he has decent clothes and gets to go on school trips!!

Hi There,
.
If you have never missed a payment and your payment history is good then they won't enforce collect and pay, and you can opt for direct pay, direct pay is where you pay your ex directly via DD, Collect and pay means that CMS colelct from you and then pay your ex, and you would be charged an extra % ontop.

They will specify an amount to pay, which can't be translated into paying towards clothes or school trips. Anything that you pay towards such items would be discretionary and wouldn't be taken into account. It's money all the way I'm afraid.

thanks for the info, poor child still has to suffer while his mum still gets to buy new clothes and shoes for herself. Great isn't it????

Sometimes we just have to be the bigger person....even though you don't have to buy extra, if you're in a position to do so then you would be doing it for the child, not the mother.

You can shop really cheaply for kids clothes in places like Primark, Asda, Tesco and even eBay. It doesn't have to cost a fortune and a child's happiness is priceless.

All the best
