I have just taken voluntary redundancy, which takes effect on the 1st Aug. Currently the CSA take payments straight from my wages. My questions are:
Will i have to notify them of this?
Will they take my redundancy money from me?
I am also looking to go self employed what do they need to know? as i'd rather not drop myself in it with them by mentioning something that has nothing to do with them but could increase the payments.
Thanks in advance for any help & advice 🙂
Hi there,
CSA won't take redundancy payment into account unless it is over a certain amount and I can't remember what that is but 30K springs to mind as that is also the amount you can have tax free.
With regards to going self employed contact the CSA and explain that you will be doing this, they will most likely set you up on a basic payment for 3 months which again I can't be 100% certain but I believe is around £35 a week, once 3 months have passed they will ask you to fill in a form that will outline your profits, it will include money taken and expenses, it isn't a complicated form it's quite basic really so shouldn't be too difficult to complete.
