Ok, my issue is, my CSA changed to Collect & Pay in February this year.
At this point the CSA instantly added 30 "Collect & Pay" fees to my account totalling over £900.
I've been told these are for missed payments, but despite me pointing out that they've not attempted to collect these payments, they still insist its policy that I need to pay them?
I understand I need to pay 20% fees when they attempt to collect but surely I shouldn't have to pay fees for what they've not done in the past?
Can anyone advise?
Despite these amounts having been due in the past, they have now build to arrears. So yes will will have 20% on top of all arrears, This is why it is important to keep paying what is on your payment schedule.
But aren't these fees specifically for them having to make the collection?
Which they didn't do.
If not, what are the fees for?
The fees are for collection of what you owe. Yes these amounts are in the past, but you were due to pay these and didn't. Therefore they are owed on your account as arrears. So yes they will collect these now and add the 20%, and they are entitled to do so.
You should of kept up with your payments..Collection fees of £900 at 20% suggests you owe around £4500 to £5000 worth of arrears.
But what they're collecting now (the arrears) is also being subject to an additional fee on top of the backdated fees that got applied in bulk.
So they're charging me a fee for a collection they never made in the past.
And I'm paying a fee for the arrears I'm paying off now.
Ok understand, sorry this wasn't clear in your fist post.
Then no this isn't right I wouldnt of thought, Any arrears you have built up will be subject to a 20% fee. So these fees that have been added in the past shsould not have more fees added. Are you sure this is the case? I'd raise a compaint if they arent being clear to you.
Yes, they added 30 fees in February totalling over £900.
Now I've paid £800 every month (Feb, March, April, May and June) and each one of them has also been subject to a £60 fee.
They're just telling me, it's policy.
