Hi my name is Adam I have two absentee children who I have no contact with ( not by choice) I have always paid for them at varied amounts via bacs directly to their bank account over the last 14 years. But recently my ex has contacted cms and requested payments. At home I’m am the sole bread winner and due to my earnings of £40,000 gross my partner and I receive no tax credits and she is unable to claim jsa . I have four dependant children at home and rent privately. My earnings are sporadic as I’m self employed basically my question is cms have said I am to pay £120pw but after my house hold deductions i rent food electric etc I will be on the line but more likely in the red is there anyway I can appeal against cms decision or reduce payments as I will be working to put myself in debt... I appreciate any feedback
Kind regards
Adam
Hi pipey,
have you told CMS that you have 4 dependent children at home? because they should give you deductions because of that. also as your self-employed, am assuming you have a limited company? do you have an accountant? who gave them the income details?
Doing a quick calculation, I'd say that they haven't taken into account your 4 children. Once they are included, then I think the amount would come down to about £100 per week, unless there are any arrears.
