[Solved] Backdating CSA arrears?

Hi,
My daughter is now nearly 25. I separated from her mother before she was born (named on birth certificate) and I paid CSA for her up until she was 16 (she started having her own kids at 14 so wasn't in education past then!)
I sent cheques every fortnight for the payments.
Now, her mother is claiming she didn't receive any of it from around 1992-2006.
I'm seriously concerned that the CSA are going to start chasing me for this money again as I now have no record that I actually paid it!
Anyone know where I stand?

Extra: I just found a letter dated from 2003 from CSA that says my arrears are all paid off. So clearly she can't get anything from before that date?

I'm not too hot on CSA issues, hopefully someone else will know more. Great that you have found a letter to cover that period. Try and give the CSA a call to discuss this or CAB in the interim. Good luck

This is CSA 1 - ie pre-2003 from the sound of it, and as far as I understand (though I'm not certain by any means), the CSA paid benefits to the parent with care, and then claimed it back from the non-resident parent. If that's the case, she will have been receiving money, but not directly from you - I assume you were sendng the cheques to the CSA?

Hang onto that letter though, just in case.

Thanks for the reply 🙂 yes I was sending the cheques straight to CSA.
So if they paid her then claimed back from me, there's no way she wasn't getting paid? And if she wasn't it's their fault and not mine?
I'm still confused how she went so long without complaining about it if she wasn't getting any money, and why it has taken almost a decade to kick up a fuss about it, but really don't want to have to worry about this if she doesn't have anything to back up her claim.

She may not realise that what she was getting was maintenance - that's the only thing I can think of. I don't think it's anything you need to worry about - the CSA should have a record of the money you've paid.
