[Solved] Arrears caused by the Child M

Hi,

Im new to the forum and as with the rest of the members, im in need of some advice.

I changed jobs last year but there was a month gap between the jobs where i wasnt paid a wage and i rang and informed the child maintenance service(ill refer to them as CMS to make easier reading).

The gentleman on the phone instructed i stop paying immediatley until i start work where i am to re contact the CMS and set up new payments.
This is i did and i sent a copy of my new contract the CMS so they could work out exactly how much my new payments would be and were aware what date i started working again.

This dragged on in total for 4 months and there were many many calls and letters and eventually a gentleman from the CMS admitted it was all their fault and they apologised and took full liability for the fact that no payment plan had been set up.

Fastforward to this morning and im told im £1200 in arrears and my payment plan had increased 45% per month which is extortionate!

I have raised a formal complaint and i do aim to escalate it if neccesary.

Has anyone else been in the same scenario and what was the outcome?

The CMS have said if after a review it is a failing on theirbehalf they will waver the outstanding amount but im not hopeful!

Do you have that in writing from them? I haven't heard of them waiving an amount that, technically, you were due to pay, so if you have evidence of them admitting this, it will help you in the long run.
