[Solved] Arrears

Hi,

I have been paying from my Daughter (from an affair )who is now 14 from
my wages through the CSA.

I have now retired and now just pay £5 a week. The Mother obviously not happy
with this and contacted the CSA who have contacted me and said there may be arrears.
They would not give me any information but said they would look into it and ring me in
a couple of days which they haven't done. Its been 3 weeks and heard nothing from them.

I have been told they can just go into my bank account and take a lump sum to
cover any arrears.I am worried they will take money from my pension lump sum
which isn't a great deal. Apart from my lump sum, I only have a small personal pension
and state pension.

I have also been told they can freeze my account till its paid?

Can they do this? Oh and I have not seen my daughter in 8 yrs due to the Mother putting a stop
to it as she did not like the fact my Daughter got on so well with my Wife.

Can they take money from my pension lump sum for arrears and can they do this without me being
informed?

Hi there

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to that question, but I wouldn't think they could do that to be honest.

It might be helpful to speak to the CAB about it, have you tried calling them? If you are really worried and not getting anywhere you can make an appointment and go and see your MP, hopefully they will be able to help you find out more.

Best of luck

I think they are able to do this, but only after they have been through a lot of other recovery procedures. I would certainly try to contact the CSA again to get them to give you a breakdown.
