Good afternoon everybody, i'm new on here and it's such a minefield i hope you won't mind if i just ask this question from my own perspective!
My 18 year old son is a apprentice electrician working four days a week and one day at college. Myself and my ex-wife arranged the financial side of things ourselves as we didn't want to get the CSA involved.
So basically my question is when am i able to stop paying her?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi and welcome.
If the apprenticeship is one of these:
Diploma of Higher Education
NVQ level 4 or above
BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC)
- then it's advanced education, but in any event, he's doing less than 12 hours supervised study per week, so I think it would cease now - is your ex getting child benefit still? If not, that's the clincher.
However, if you aren't using the CSA, then technically, you can stop paying immediately, so the best advice is that you come to an agreement between the two of you.
