[Solved] Advice on income

Hello

Just thought I’d ask to see if anyone can help

I’ve just started a new job, and as part of my remuneration I get so much paid by my employer towards housing costs.
This is paid through my wages, although not through tax and NI - it’s not part of my salary.
It shows on my payslip as ( housing no tax)
My salary amount is noted just above
This is just an allowance
I hope that the child support agency don’t take the housing allowance into account?
I’m hoping they keep that separate when making their calculations?

I’d be grateful for any response

That's a question I've not come across to be honest. I would suggest giving the Child Maintenance Options helpline a call......

Hello Jonathan1122

I can see that Yoda has advised you to contact Child Maintenance Options regarding your enquiry. Child Maintenance Options are an impartial service, and they offer information and support, to help parents make an informed decision about what type of child maintenance arrangement will work best for their family.

Child Maintenance Options are unable to answer questions relating to statutory cases with the Child Support Agency (CSA). As it sounds as though you may have a statutory case with the CSA already, you could try contacting them directly for further information about this (you can find their contact details on any letters they may have sent to you).

Something else you may be interested to know is that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have a website called Sorting out Separation. It aims to make it much easier when you are separated to find the support you need, when and where you need it, on a range of concerns including money, housing, employment, legal, and parenting apart. You can view the website at https://www.sortingoutseparation.org.uk/.

Kind Regards

William

It’s non taxable income so won’t count I would think as it wouldn’t show on your end of year tax report that the CMS use.

Thanks Yoda

That’s what I was thinking but wasn’t so sure
It’s just an allowance that helps me towards rent
It’s not part of my taxable income

Is it counted as a taxable perk? I would check with your employers as to whether they will have to declare this using a P11d - if they don't, I'd be inclined to agree with the above advice.
