Hello. My 19 year old daughter starts full time work today working 48hrs per week. Does this mean my csa payments should stop. If so should they stop from today.

Contact CSA and inform them of this. If the mother is still claiming child benefit for your daughter then the CSA may not want to stop taking maintenance from you.

As your daughter has started full time employment, you are no longer liable. When a child leaves full time education the maintenance payments co tinue on for a while. For instance if a child leaves in June the payments would continue until the first week of September. However as she has gone into full time employment it may be that the payments should stop immediatey,

Hi there

I've moved your thread into the child maintenance section as you are more likely to get a response here.

Hi hopeful

Thank you for your post. I am William the Child Maintenance Options consultant. We are unable to comment on Child Support Agency (CSA) cases as we are a separate organisation and do not have access to your case details. However, I can provide some general information.

Under child support legislation, regular child maintenance payments must be made until a child is 16 years old, or 20 if they are in full-time, non-advanced education (A-level or equivalent), or for as long as Child Benefit is being paid. When a child leaves full-time education in the summer, Child Benefit generally continues until the first week of September. You can find more information on when child maintenance stops on Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/when-child-maintenance-payments-stop. You can also find more information on a parent’s eligibility to receive Child Benefit on the same site at https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit.

However, with you mentioning that you may have a case in place with the CSA, you may wish to contact them directly to discuss your query. You can find their contact details on any letters that you may have received, or by visiting Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/child-maintenance/contact.

For more information on the ways to set up child maintenance, please visit our website at http://www.cmoptions.org. Alternatively, you can call us free on 0800 988 0988 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday or 9am and 4pm on a Saturday.

Regards

William
