I noticed that CMS deduct the costs incurred (which you pay from your earnings after tax) from your gross income. This seems incorrect to me, as £100 in costs would have a gross value of up to £188 depending on your tax rate.

Shouldn't they gross up the costs and then deduct this from your gross income?

Anyone else noticed this and challenged CMS?
I wrote to them but no response.....

i dont qualify for those special expenses, as its usually a 20 min drive from ex.

your better off ringing cms to get a proper answer.

No-one has mentioned this before, does seem valid, but if the rules they work to state this, then not much can be done about it I would guess.
