My 17year old daughter is claiming Pip and ema. She is in college but receives £629.85 per month Pip and £30 in ema payments per week in college.
I’m after advice whether I have to continue to pay child maintenance as she is claiming Pip as an adult.
I have spoken to cms and not received any advice, they were not helpful at all.
Hello Gaz1927
As a general rule, child maintenance is expected to be paid while ever a child is eligible for Child Benefit.
If you are unsure if your daughter is still eligible for Child Benefit, under current child support legislation, child maintenance is usually paid until a child reaches 20 years old if they are in full-time (an average of 12 hours or more per week of classroom study), non-advanced (up to and including A-level equivalent) education.
You can also find information about when child maintenance stops on Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/when-child-maintenance-payments-stop.
For information on all the different ways to set up child maintenance and for a more personalised service, you can visit the Child Maintenance Options website at http://www.cmoptions.org.
The DWP have a sorting out separation website that you may find useful. It offers help and support to separating and separated families. The link is: https://www.sortingoutseparation.org.uk/.
