Hi guys
Im lookin for the best bits of advice for court next week.
I'm quite hot headed so need to keep my cool.
I also become quite emotional when it comes down to talkin about the kids, so I need to keep it bottled up.
As guys, have you seen anything in court yourselves that your exs have done that I should avoid?
Thanks
...it's a matter of keeping calm and child focused, avoid talking about what you want and instead speak from your kids perspective and what is in their best interests. Leave the slagging off to him but if you have concerns voice them.
Take some tissues just in case and if you are feeling overwhelmed there's nothing wrong with asking for a few moments to compose yourself.
Write down what you want to bring up and anything that you want to remember to say.
Good luck
Thanks Mojo.
I have a position statement which I hope the judges will accept, I'll be working from that and my proposals which will be included but will keep the fine details to myself until asked.
Nerves are kicking it fast.
If it wasn't for this site I don't know where I'd be.
I often wonder how LIP get on when they don't know about sites like this!!
Well were all behind you Crocs....good luck for next week. 🙂
Good luck. Being emotional in court isn't necessarily a bad thing - after all, they're your kids, why wouldn't any normal person be emotional, but just make sure you don't lose your temper or say anything to antagonise the court.
Hi Crocs
Deep down you know the things you need to do and you will do them well, keep calm, keep factual and keep your oppinion to yourself talk about what's happened as facts but don't say why you think they have happened as that would be your assumption and your ex will be able to come back with responses to them.
When you tell the judge what has happened they will ask the ex to explain and then normally dig deeper into that response.
As Mojo said have everything written down ready, have tissues and don't be worried about getting upset, just don't get angry, also take some water, having a drink of water is a great way to buy some time when your asked a question your not sure how to answer straight away it's like taking a deep breath and counting to 3.
You'll be fine I know how the nerves kick in, but we are all behimd you.

Don't bring your personal emotions with you in the court, focus on your kids.
