Hi Jasgra

Hey mate welcome to fatherhood with all its ups and downs. How many weeks, months is your newborn?

I take it you have asked your healthvisitor (hv) about the baby, if not call your GP and ask to see your HV or Dr. They really wont mind being asked for reasurance, your HV esp will be very understanding.

I think the best thing you can do right now is keep reassuring your wife that she is doing a great job but at the sametime help her find the support she needs, be that peer support from her friends who have kids or your mum or hers. Get her to talk about how she feels about the situation with you and give time to listen.

If you think she's feeling overwhelmed you can call the HV yourself and have a private chat over the phone.

Colic is horrible and can leave you feeling pretty helpless. What have you tried so far? We found a humidifier in the bedroom worked well.

Check out these links to give you a little more info

Colic NHS CHoices Link

BBC Health Link they have some interesting alternative ways to deal with colic including massage and a colic dance!

Let us know how things go buddy.

Not than I'm any expert apart from having a soon to be 4 year old, but we had to put our daughter on hungry baby formula at 8 weeks, she simply wasn't getting enough to settle her. It won't hurt to try it, it simply a bulkier meal and doesn't contain any more calories or nutrition from what I remember. The first night it worked, it might be worth considering. Anything for a peaceful night for you all

Good luck,

Dom
