Its good the school are now showing concerns . Yes good idea get them to contact social services about it . They will then have to contact mother about what shes doing
She ignores any attempt I make to discuss. I can't really solve it as I live too far away to make it practical although I'm looking at if/how I can adjust my working day once a week.
He used to go to after school club but his mum withdrew him from it - never said to me she was doing so - I guess I could instruct the school that our child attends.
I agree the school is in the best position to involve Early Help. Assuming you have parental responsibility bear in mind that you are entitled to be consulted about major decisions. It does not follow that the parent the child is living with makes all the decisions. You can also ask the school to let you have reports.
10 or 11 is actually the age when one starts to become a little independent in terms of some extra curricular activities like cycling. I was 10 or 11 when I started going on my own cycling was pretty cool like an adventure...
