Hey dads,
Quick question.
Is there any legal avenue one can take to get copies of kids documents please? Passport etc. If I ask ex solicitors and she refuses is there anything I can do.
Prob not wise but was thinking to reapply for new passports and when they arrive, scan me copies then deliver them to ex so shes always holding to original.
Thoughts anyone>
I guess the question is why do you want to? Do you need the passports for anything?
To help with a few applications. Dual nationality, saving/trust accounts mainly
I dont believe you need it for applying for financial products as you can do this as the parent.
In relation to dual nationality application I would say to get through court stuff first and then look at this. Best thing is to explain to ex and get docs from her.
If you dont have 50/50 shared custody then reapplying will mean you have to cancel existing passport which could cause an issue with ex but also a loss of trust.
It did say birth certificate or passport for banking stuff. But the DN is more tricky they need everything and copies certified.
Your right maybe not the best time to think about all this so going to leave that part of it out. I can imagine it will cause a lot of grief.
Its amazing how even document I have to tread carefully but thank you for your comment DU.
Sounds sensible. Once divorced and everything you can always ask for docs then or put money aside.
Your right!!
Was never married, glad I didnt I cant imagine the grief that would have caused. I have asked previously and she declined, this was last year.
Everything I do now is for my kids just wanted money set in there name so there secure as they grow older. I'll come back to this when its more suitable.
Ha lucky to not be married. One less stress you have avoided!!
I dont mean to throw it around, im sure plenty of dads are going through a hard time because of this but yeah I dont no what I would have done.
Not sure im lucky, I ended up having kids with her, thats enough for me 🙂
Ha yes true, but I'd say be glad you didn't get married..
Often trying to sort divorce significantly impacts contact as the kids end up being used as bargaining chips which is terrible..
..
I have tried to read as much as possible . As soon as marriage is part of the seperation things become more complex. Kids, finances and house come into play etc it became a real obstacle.
Some women defo play this to there advantage. Its disgusting.
