Maintenance in poland

Hi there ,

I'm irish and have 2 children in poland. Since 2021 I've been trying regularly to get in contact with them since the mother broke contact. She's been sent court documents and solicitor letters since 2021 and we have never got a reply. Last week my solicitor found out she applied for a divorce in 2023 without my knowledge and they went ahead with a child maintenance order. They agreed in court (without me even knowing anything about this at all) that I have to pay 1100pł for each child. I again wasn't informed of any of this. My solicitor has now said I owe over 42000pł in back maintenance. Can I challenge this? All documents were sent to an old address and she was regularly updated with my new address during contact and even after she stopped contact. She said she had received no contact from me since 2021 but this is a complete lie and I have documents to back it up.

hi,

was it a UK/Irish court that made those orders? if not then suggest you seek legal advice about system in Poland.

@dadmod2 no it was Polish court. My solicitor there said there isn't much we can do even though we can prove she lied about the address and contact to the court. Shocking that they can get away with doing these things and get no punishment at all for it.
