hello, my ex has stopped 50/50 care of our kids, and im taking her to court.shes not aweare of this . would her being primary carrier, give her more benifts from universal credits and some form of child maintainace money off me ? she must of lied to say that she was primary carrier to universal credits.. for sure.
any help wil be a big help
Hi
Yes, being the primary carer will entitle her to claim for Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits (although technically either of you can apply but rules are complex re primary custody etc) and also Child Maintenance from you would become payable. There is no extra Universal Credit other than the Child Tax Credits (I don't believe)..
The key is to understand the reasons she has given for stopping 50.50, however often it is strategic to enable more money, especially if she is struggling financially.
All the best.
she laughed when i asked her. now she has stopped me seeing my kids only to nights in 22 days..... and social services say nothing they can do as its a court matter
if these women got no benefits they would think twice before leaving men for no reason
hi JPT,
yes if someone has children, they get more money if they apply for Universal credit. can easily get £1000+ a month. I would advise you to not worry about her. focus on your upcoming court hearings.
thanks bill337 im trying to get ready for anthing and everything that will come up in court. as shes a compulsive lier
