I have a quick query everyone. Thanks for your time. On behalf of a good friend who is having a tough time. ( genuinely )
He is living in Uk.
His daughter (one night stand) is living in Australia. He only knew she existed 3 years ago when the contacted him through solicitor. There was a private informal agreement of support agreed then which he has paid faithfully. Initial contact (face time calls) frequent. Relationship between the 2 has been great. She spent 6 weeks in UK with him a year ago and then all changed. No contact past 8 months at all. No response to emails, texts from her or her mother who is now married and has other kids.
No call over Christmas and he decided to not pay the most recent months agreed amount.
He got a text today from her stepdad saying they were going to family solicitor.
1) can you legally enforce an informal private agreement?
2) can an actual new child maintenance claim be sent from Australia to UK?
Where does he stand ?
