I got a date for a directions hearing near the end of August. It's to sort out an issue between my ex and myself. There's more info here - https://www.dad.info/forum/welcome-to-the-forum/52733-ex-wants-to-take-daughter-out-of-school-for-another-yea - but in short, she was going to de-register our daughter from school without my consent (I thought I would make a new thread to get some advice on the hearing itself). Knowing I made an application to the court, she has held off to see what the judge is going to say.
The hearing is taking place via BT Meet Me, so we won't need to go to the court itself. From what I can gather it will take place within one phone call, I'm not sure what that will entail exactly though, if I'm honest.
I was wondering if anyone else had been to an emergency hearing firstly, and what I should expect and what I need to have prepared, and also whether anyone had done any kind of hearing via a phonecall.
I wasn't planning on getting a solicitor because I can't afford one, and if I'm honest I don't feel like going through all the legal aid paperwork right now given that I feel one 45 minute hearing should be manageable by myself, especially given we are only discussing one issue.
Any advice would be helpful.
Hi Kerplunk,
This might be useful for preparing for the court hearing :

Thank you. I enquired about hiring a solicitor. They couldn't fit me but advised me that I just need to prepare my points that I want to get across, so I'm just trying to figure out what I need to say without leaving anything out. The link you gave might help with that.
