Hi all,
I have a workplace pension in which I put in 10% of my earnings.
The pension is relief at source, so the deduction comes out of my net income and the gov add the 20% back in.
Because of this my calculation is always based on a pension contribution of zero which is incorrect.
I have challenged this 4 years running and am either completely ignored or it’s ruled against me because it’s not more than 25% incorrect. I have sent full annualised payslips and pension statements, but they just ignore it every time.
I have contacted HMRC and they say to deal with CMS - and eventually I just give up every year.
Has anyone successfully explained this to CMS and had an adjustment?
it is only £50 per month difference, but money is so crazily tight that would really help me.
