Second phone can be £10 phone from Tesco with a payg sim - you don't need to keep topping it up as it's for incoming calls only, if you call her, you can do that from your normal phone, just prefix her number with 141 and that will withhold your number.
Alternatively, there are ways to force her calls to voicemail at certain times (certainly on android) and if you mute notifications from her contact on whatsapp, you have to go an look for her messages, they won't disturb you.
