The Hosepipe Ban and the Flood

The surefire way to end a drought is to put a hosepipe ban in place.

This weekend Faith, Adlai and I had some big plans. It was meant to be the weekend where Adlai has funtivities at his aunty and uncle’s and Faith and I go to a hotel and sleep for 36 hours straight.

‘Not to worry,’ we thought, ‘we have a weekend we can pack full of fun.’ That’s exactly what we did but the rains came down and the winds blew. The ‘real feel’ was -2. We made it outside for a total of about 30 minutes and Adlai dutifully threw himself into as many puddles as he could find (and there were many). He worked his way through three pairs of trousers from ‘falling’ and never got more than 100 metres from our house. Impressive stats, I thought.

We invented some fairly awesome inside games. At one point we were racing a push-along car with a push-along lawn mower, and that was during Adlai’s nap. I’m pretty sure I won most races on the push-along car, but that lawn mower is surprisingly fast.

Yep, things got pretty wild this weekend. Pretty wild.
