I’m getting emotional

Marriage has proved to be a learning curve. The word on the street is that women are, on the whole, more emotional than men. I have found this to be true. Since becoming pregnant, the emotions have only been magnified and I have found it all to be quite contagious.

Yep… we get emotional about more or less everything at my house at the moment: stuff people have done, stuff people haven’t done, stuff people might do, bad food, good food, food in general, clothes, telly shows, music, post…I could go on.

As if Faith wasn’t bad enough, I now do this thing where I see something for sale, for instance a table and chairs at IKEA. I see how cheap it is and then imagine this whole scenario where a poor family sees it and they are so excited because it’s all they can afford and they never thought they’d be able to find anything. I start to well up for this family that doesn’t exist. I know… it’s quite ridiculous.

Friends tell me that it only gets worse once the baby is born. I am anticipating being nothing less than an emotional wreck at the birth, but I figure if you can’t shed a few tears then, when can you?

Through the tears of our emotional 26th week, we have begun making something called a baby shower gift list. We have our American friends to thank for this one. Like a wedding list, we make a list of stuff we want for our baby and then someone hosts a ‘baby shower’ and people give us some of the gifts from said list…

So people continue to be amazingly generous.

It’s all making me predictably emotional.
