Whether you want to do something awesome for your dad this Father’s Day, or if you’re looking for some ideas to pass on to your partner/kids so they can celebrate your special day in style, we’ve got some great ideas to reward dead-good dads this year.
If you think your dad is the best – or reckon you could use some recognition yourself and aren’t too proud to drop the odd hint – then check out these great days out to remind dads that they’re top of the pops…
For dapper dads
Before you can take your dad (or yourself) anywhere out for the day, you’d best first get him scrubbed up with Ted Baker’s ‘Full Ted’ grooming experience.
An experienced barber at Ted’s Grooming Room will treat your dad to the haircut he desires – including a complete re-style if he still has enough hair for a dramatic makeover – as well as the full traditional Turkish shave. The hot-towel treatment is an experience every man should try, offering the closest, smoothest cut-throat shave and having an incredibly refreshing after effect, it’s an instantly addictive experience. Next, with meticulous care and attention to detail, your dad’s eyebrows/monobrow will be trimmed and shaped, and any pesky ear hair removed by the traditional Middle-Eastern flaming method… Yes, that’s right your ear hairs are actually singed from your lugholes with fire (it prevents clipped fuzz from falling into your ears and causing infections, according to Ted)!
To steady you dad’s nerves after all the cut-throat razor and fire action, he’ll get a relaxing massage and a bottle of Turkish beer to take the edge off… and then he’s ready for the rest of his big day out.

For pops who rock
“Hope I die before I get old,” legendary dad-rocker Roger Daltry once sang… and ironically continues to do so. Although the surviving members of The Who are now old enough to draw state pension, they’re out of retirement and still bringing their lip-curling swagger (not hip-groaning stagger, just to clarify) to the world with a tour to celebrate fifty years of their seminal band.
We’re betting (we better, we bet) that you or your dad would love to see The Who live this summer to celebrate Father’s Day, but probably weren’t quick enough off the mark to get Glastonbury tickets before they sold out in under 25 minutes.
Well, two days before Glasto, The Who will be rocking London’s Hyde Park for one night only on 26 June as part of 2015’s British Summer Time festival. They’ll be supported by Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs, and Johnny Marr among other notables, and tickets have not yet sold out, so you can p-p-p-pick up an awesome Father’s Day gift and share in a day of music with your dad or kids that transcends g-g-g-generations.
Kylie is playing BST on Father’s Day itself if she’s more your sort of thing, while Blur are playing 20 June. For more information, visit: www.bst-hydepark.com
For daring dads
Father’s Day falls on 21 June this year, and dads visiting The London Dungeon on that date will get half-price admission with any full-paying child (aged four to 15 years), where the resident cast of rogues and rascals are on special orders to ensure fathers get extra special Dungeons-style attention.
Unfortunately for our dads, that means being put on trial by Judge Wendy Farqhuar in his mad-cap 17th century courtroom, taking a seat in the mediaeval torturer’s chair and ‘volunteering’ to assist the excitable Plague Doctor’s assistant demonstrate cures for the Black Death.
This is a day-out sure to please kids and adults alike as 1,000 years of the capital’s murky past is brought to life in 18 nerve-shredding shows and two thrilling rides, so everyone will love getting to see dad being scared witless.
This offer is only available for walk-up tickets on the day. One dad goes half price (£12.98) with one child (4-15 years old) buying a full-priced child’s ticket at £20.95, meaning entry for two will cost £33.93. For more information, visit: www.thedungeons.com
For petrol-head papas
The Bond in Motion exhibition at the London Film Museum offers 007-mad dads the chance to get an up-close look at the original Bond vehicles featured in the classic movies.
The show has everything from James’s iconic Aston Martins through to the submersible Lotus Espirit from The Spy Who Loved Me. You and/or your dad will also get to check out the more obscure marques seen on screen from BMW to Rolls Royce, and even the Honda CRF25OR driven by Daniel Craig in 2012, and brand new additions from the latest Bond adventure, Spectre.

For square-eyed dads
If your dad is a bit like Basil Fawlty and you’d like the opportunity to bring that fact to his attention, or indeed if you or your father just happen to be fans of the fantastic ‘70s show (no, not the rubbish ‘70s show that made Ashton Kutcher famous), then Faulty Towers The Dining Experience will make a fun Father’s Day out.
During this internationally acclaimed, interactive theatre experience, you will be shown to your table by three of your favourite Fawlty Towers characters, played by award-winning impersonators. Basil, Sybil and Manuel then help to serve guests a three-course meal, while improvising two-thirds of the show and interacting with the guests. Expect equal servings of laughter and chaos.
The show takes places in the Torquay Suite Theatre of London’s 4-star Amba Hotel Charing Cross, with prices starting from £100 for two. For more information, visit: www.buyagift.co.uk
… If, on the other hand, your dad is The Don and you want to let him know you think he’s a really good fella, then why not treat him to a Gangster Tour of London?
Discover the secret heart of London’s mob underworld with “Nick the Greek” from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels as your knowledgeable guide. Actor Stephen Marcus will take you to see the locations used in the making of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Gangster No.1, The Crying Game and more; you’ll visit the real-life East London gangster haunts of the Krays; and Stephen will tell you true stories about gangster life in London since the 1950s. At only £40 for two, this Father’s Day gift is a deal, a steal, it’s sale of the – ahem – century.
