I thought Adlai was a bit young for that line. But while he can’t actually say the words, he doesn’t need to. All his little mates have the same tiny bike, and every time we see them in the park we get that feeling.
He doesn’t have to say it; we know. All his friends have one. And while that excuse won’t always work on us (hopefully), we agree the boy needs a little bike to push himself along with his buddies.
Until we can spring £25 on one of those bikes, he’s been given something to tide him over by my parents, who bought him a push-along bike and are keeping it at their house. It’s an hour away, but it’ll do in a pinch. They presented him with it earlier this week when we went down for a bank holiday visit, and for the next seven hours he was never more than a couple of inches away from it. He rode it (or rather, got pushed) all the way to my parents’ local park, and all the way back. He then insisted on being around the house, all the while repeating, “Biiike, biiiike
