The Caterpillar is Still Hungry

I can’t remember the first time I walked, saw Star Wars, kicked a ball or ate a cake. As far as I’m concerned those things have been there since the dawn of time.

‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ too has been hungry ever since I can remember. Now Adlai has taken a  shine to the board book version, I don’t suppose he’ll be able to remember a time he was unaware of the hungry caterpillar’s eating adventures either. This is the first book to capture Adlai’s full attention. So far every time I’ve read it to him he lets out an excited yelp when we turn over the last page to reveal that the hero of the story has turned into a beautiful butterfly. Every time. It’s very satisfying. We’ve tried other books, many of which have held our 11-month-old’s unwavering attention, but as yet none have produced the yelping effect.

It’s unlikely that Adlai will be able to remember the first time he kicked a ball, I’ve been swinging him around like a fooseball player for months (not constantly). I’ve not introduced him to Star Wars yet. That’s what Christmas is for. As for cake…well…we all love cake.
